"Owning" a Piece of the Rock:
Fulfilling the Potential of Hidden Valley
This began as a proposal for buying
Dr. Jensen's former "Hidden Valley Health Ranch."
March 31, 2005, There were lots of IF's, but writing this was the next step.
A very positive financial response in support of a group ownership came through.
The following describes a full-fledged program I can envision for Hidden Valley.
By Leslie Goldman
Your Enchanted Gardener
![]() There is a rock here,
an Enchanted Rock.
I come close. I see your name on it.
The question is, as far as I can see,
not who wants to own this land,
but who does this land want to be owned by.
The land wants you, all of you.

A Land in Search of its New Care Takers:
³Hidden Valley Health Ranch² is a 10-acre
parcel of pristine land in the back country
of Escondido, California in the area of Lake Wohlford.
It is the former home of world renowned
Natural healer, Dr. Bernard Jensen (1908-2001).
In a mountainous area, highly regarded for qualities
that Jensen said could promote long life,
It is now for sale for $1.5 Million.
For particulars see:
Please see Http://www.wootton.com.
Seed Dream:
I sense the name of this place shall simply
be known as "Jensen's Ranch"
in honor of a great Soul, Dr. Bernard Jensen, who loved all Souls
and wanted the best for humanity.
I see this property continuing as a Retreat Center,
a Retreat Center that will encompass the contributions
to this land by Ellen Nadeau and Tom Wootton
who established the Hidden Valley Artist Retreat in 2001.
I see as well the reactivation of the Hidden Valley Health Ranch,
established in 1948, a place where those who are called, may come for respite
and health renewal. The Retreat Center will offer
space for local and nationally-publicized intimate workshops.
It will be a place where all faiths come together in peace
and advance understanding between them in this
blessed natural setting.
A Place for Enchanted Gardening
I see further unfoldment here
of the gifts of Dr. Bernard Jensen who gave
to this Earth fertility, and gave to the dream that
each of us are natural people, and that
through gardening we can connect with all things.
I see a community of land caretakers, of
Enchanted Gardeners of the Soul and Soil
who recognize that the Earth and the Soul are Soil mates.
Before Nadeau, Wootton, and Jensen,
I cannot say who believed
they were owned by this place.
I cannot say who had this place in their bones.
I see signs in the rocks
that indicate Native Women called this their place
and found peace and solace.
A Center that Honors the Sacred Feminine
It shall continue to regard
the sacred feminine, and provide a place where
women find witness in nature to the sacredness
that is woman.
Annual Children¹s Camp
I see an annual children¹s Camp Out
a place where the New Child--
the Sacred Child--can come and play
and renew as well the vision of
the great Enchanted Gardener Luther Burbank who said,
"Every Child should have mud pies, grasshoppers,
water-bugs, tadpoles, frogs, mud-turtles,
elderberries, wild strawberries, acorns, chestnuts, trees to climb, brooks to wade in, water-lilies,
woodchucks, bats, bees, butterflies, various animals to pet, hayfields, pine cones, rocks to roll,
sand, snakes, huckleberries and hornets; and any child who has been deprived
of these has been deprived of the best part of his education." --Luther Burbank,
from The Training of the Human Plant 1907
Annual Gathering: A Journey
through A Thousand Meditations
I see the vision of the Essene Renaissance
Pioneer Edmond Bordeaux Szekely unfolding here:
One of Szekely¹s unfulfilled projects was called
Mille Meditations, Journey through A Thousand Meditations.
I see an annual gathering here, that expresses as he
saw, ³ A synthesis of nature and eight thousand years of wisdom.²
Annual Musicians Peace Camp
I see Peacemakers--
peacemakers who are musicians--
who fulfill the words of the Nobel Peace Prize
winner Romain Rolland.
It was Rolland who spoke of forming the New Ground
in the The Forerunners, 1917:
"Let us seek truth everywhere; let us cull it where ever
we can find its blossom or its seed. Having found the seed,
let us scatter it to the winds of heaven. Where ever it may come,
where ever it may blow, it will germinate.
There is no lack in this wide universe of Souls that will form the new ground."
A Community that Honors Mother Earth
Let this be the basis of community that forms here,
a community that honors the Mother Earth:
"I am your Mother Earth.
You are my pride and joy.
I am the sparkle that was in your father's eye
when your mother first looked into his eye
and they made you from my substance.
I had something in mind
when I inspired your mother
and father to touch each other.
I am your mother earth.
I made you to speak for me.
I made you to speak for me now.
I made you to know this earth
as your home.²
(* originally expressed in The Rebirth of Mother Earth
by Leslie Goldman, Your Enchanted Gardener
1989)
